About Us

Quinta do Passal

The village of Arega has an elevation of 425 meters making it a few degrees cooler in the summer and more temperate in the winter. It is a ten minute drive to Figueiró Dos Vinhos with its local market, restaurants, shops and cafes; and 25 minutes to Tomar; 40 minutes to Coimbra. The centerpiece of Arega is a beautiful 18th-century church which stands tall and proud in the village square. The church's bell tower rings out on the hour marking the passing of time in this idyllic corner of Portugal.

The people of Arega are warm and welcoming and eager to share their way of life with visitors. You'll find a small grocery store and several cafes and bars, and if you're lucky enough to be in Arega in August you'll experience the village festival with its lively music, dancing, and colorful costumes!
